hey all im new to the site so ill say hi first, HI.. lol now then you all will probably bash on me but im a import tuner stepping into the big block big truck scene.. Here is my question about my project.
im not familiar with carbs, because everything i have always worked on has been EFI. now then my carb is being rebuilt at the moment and i just want some suggestions on which is better and why you think its better between an automatic choke and a manual choke. one problem im having right now, is on the stock 2bl carb it has an automatic choke. i have replaced the exhaust manifolds with headers and no longer have anything to hook the tube to that used to hook to the manifold that heated up the choke.. just shoot me some ideas on which route to go on the choke please.

you could either get a longer piece of tubing and coil it around the header tube a couple of times or you could buy an electric choke stat and hook it up to 12 volt source for when ignition is in on position. auto. vs manuel - IMO one is no better than the other (personal preference). just with the manuel you have to adjust a couple of times until warmed up.

I might add; I like manual especially if there's a slot on the dash verse under it mounted. But the auto choke is not necessary needing a heater tube; if your only running an newer electric choke.
With all that said; it really depends on your enviroment location & whether the truck is store outside verse inside, mainly in harsh weather conditions, I like manual choke better.
Hope I 'm making sense!
Also Welcome aboard!!!!!!

um just a quick question. which highboy would be a better choice in your opinion, the 72 or a 73. because i have a choice of buying either and idk much about them besides the different transfer cases and 1 inch difference in height. oh and would the 73 have a t-18 or the np 435 4 speed? thankx
