Factory Plow Package

Does a 2003 F-250 4x4 with factory plow package sit taller in the front than one with just standard springs? I am curious if the springs are just a heavy duty variety or if they actually provide a little lift up front. Thanks for any help.

They are heavy duty and sit taller as they are rated for more weight (6000lbs).

Cool! Would you say about 2-2.5 inches taller in front?

Maybe when compared to a 4400 or 4800lb spring....probably 1-1.5" taller than 5200lb springs though.

True, I think my old springs were just plain worn out so, I gained about 2" with the X-codes

2" from just the X-codes? That's a lot! Most seem to get around 1". How does your truck sit for level now? I just bought a 2" Pro Comp shackle kit for my truck and was going to add the X-codes at a later date, but I don't want to get the nose higher than the back.

Truck sits just higher in the rear. I can tell a huge difference, my 285's were rubbing in full lock, I had to change the adjustment on my seat, and it is a bigger step to the running boards. Plus the truck just rides that much better. I don't know what the factory springs were, I will check.

No rubbing for me yet... 285's also. I may have to re-think adding the X-codes after reading this... don't want to have to lift the rear also. Got any before/after shots?

Turns out I had the typical VB Code

I have a good before shot, after I had to get pulled out with the JD 4640, my avatar is when I was stuck.

I just took this it's not very good, it's snowing like mad and I'm parked down hill

This one's not much better, back is not on level ground.

I think mine is a VB code also... truck looks good! I think with my Pro Comp shackles and X-codes I'll be too tall up front... I guess I'll settle for the shackle kit now and do X-codes later and ditch the shackles.

Gaining 2" with the X codes seems excessive. I only gained half and inch and my old springs were really worn out.

But what were your old springs? Jason's truck and my truck both have the lightest available front spring option... if yours had X or U codes stock then you'd gain less by replacing them.

Jevi do you mean 1-1/2" "only gained half and inch"

That is close to where I'm at, plus I was hanging a 900lb plow off the front too wear the old springs out further.

My F-350 had stock springs in it. I don't recall off the top of my head what code they were. It's to cold out right now to run and check. But the stock springs wore out pretty fast after I mounted my plow on it. The X-codes have been much better. It was only .5" of gain in height after the new springs were mounted.
