What happens if it were to suddenly "flop out" after hitting some bumps at 60 mph? Or a panic stop? You could easily slide under the seat belt and wind up compacted under the dash.

Fun idea, but not practical in the eye of safety.
yep i see what you mean for safety which is why i asked. well it was a thought but i would not want to buy anything like this like a conversion van or a power seat ,blah, blah, blah but thank you everybody for your thoughts and tips

For what they say about safety issues, just use pins like they use to hold trailer hitches in the receiver, I'm sure they would hold the seat in place good enough as just a secondary precaution.

It's a vicious circle.
I understand about the pins but that would lead to other complications.
There isn't enough metal in the seat frame to drill a hole that large through and still retain integrity of the metal. Ever looked at a seat back? Nothing but a bunch of foam with a few runs of wire to hold it up.

i understand what you guys are saying and thank you for pointing out the fact that a seat back has little metal. and about the pins and lack of actuall metal on the seat frame. but i was planning to make custom brackets that i will make at the metal shop from the trade school i go to so i am looking for ideas and so far they have been awesome
