Does anyone have front springs that centers the axle without reverse eyes? I want to center the axle but I do not want a 2" drop in the front. I am looking at around an inch or inch and a half at the max.
Also I was wondering how to measure to see if the axle has already been moved forward. When looking at the driver side it looks close to center but the passenger side looks off. I would think this would be causing the steering to be weird but it seems find except for the stock gear box having play.
i went scrounging real quick through my various catalogs online and otherwise and i cant find any ......... i have been up since 2 am though so it could be standing next to me and i wouldna know
One way to check and see if your axle has been moved forward is to look at the axle bumper bolted to frame . If axle is in front of bumper, your axle has been moved forward. Don't know of any springs that move your axle forward without lowering truck.
All the spring shops here local, just want to sell you new, for a lot more than you can get them at the online suppliers. I had a heck of a time here. I ended up finding a good used reat set on another site and got new fronts at J C Whitney,.......hardware, bushings, pins ect at Dennis Carpenter and Macs
Eaton Spring in Detroit makes the "down and forward" springs I have on my `56. If you contact them they may make a pair for you without lowering your truck. Worth a try. May even be less expensive than lowered pair.
Good luck.
