Flushing tranny with royal purple

I am going to flush the tranny this week with Royal Purple and can't decide how i want to do it. I changed the tranny fluid the spring before last (25K miles ago). I drained it and changed the filter, then drained and re-filled about 2 weeks later to get the TC fluid out. Now i want to put royal purple in this time and wondering if i should go ahead and change while im at it. doing a search here i guess its not too common to change the filter at every change, thats why i ask. It sure would be nice just to disconnect the output line, fire it up and pour the fluid in the dipstick...but for peace of mind i am thinking about changing the filter. what do you think?

I change the filter every time I pull the tranny pan. A little preventative maintenance for a pretty small price yes?

Or you could go with the external filter kit, just spin on a replacement. Diesel Manor and other places have it, costs about $119.

no doubt i would change it if i was for sure pulling the pan, but i can flush it without touching the pan. i will most likely end up changing the filter just want to hear what everyone here does.

I don't change the filter every time. Here's how I recommend changing the fluid.

Mark,
Does your article need updating?

Yes, the article needs updating. I don't have a way to modify the article.
