I ran into this type of situation about 2 years ago. I had a '92 F-150 SuperCab that I was ready to sell the truck and I was considering to go with a smaller new truck between The Ranger and The Tacoma. The Colorado has never appealed to me so it was out of the picture.Fountate for me I Found a '95 F-150 Supercab XLT and I bought it instead.
Before 2005 I would have Gone with a Ranger because of the smoother Ride and better options than the Pre '05 Tacoma. Since then I have been borderline between the Two Trucks since both Ford and Toyota have good Reputaions when it comes to Trucks. The Current Tacoma is the First Toyota Truck I have liked since the Toyota Pickup Series. The Ranger still has more options than the Tacoma. I have compared and driven both Trucks and I would say Tacoma but by a hair.

What I can tell you about the Rangers.
First off the Ranger is the last of the compact pickups. Both chevy and Toyota dropped the compacts and bumped them up to Mid-Size.
The Ranger FX4 has a clutch type limited slip and the LvlII has the gear type limited slip (torsion). 08 or 09 did away with the LvlII but the options of the LvlII are still available.
Someone mentioned $27K for a Ranger. I paid $24.5 for my FX4 (07) and the LvlII at the same dealer was about $500-$1000 more.
The 2.3L is the Rangers gas miser and it does a decent job at getting it around, but it's only available in 2wd.
One last thing to know. The 08+ 4x4 Rangers are actually 1 to 2 inches lower that the 07- Rangers. Just in case you're interested in such data.
Also my 4x4 Ranger does great in the snow with no weight in the back. In 2wd mode it's still fine.

Ah.So it's a sound system! I drive an Escape (Mariner) Hybrid on the weekends at work. It has an awesome sound system. My sound system is terrible. I replaced the rear Ford speakers with kickers. The Ford speakers were 2x as better. Who cares if nobody else likes your fender flares? They look sweet - and if you want to be **** about it, they do serve a purpose.

I heard of the Tremor but never really see them on the road so I really didn't know what they look like. Thanks for posting pics.
I just replaced the stock head unit on my 04' SD with an aftermarket unit and it make a big difference even with the factory speakers. Want to replace the factory speakers eventually.

i had an 03 ranger. and i loved that truck. plenty of power in the 4.0. i had a buddy that had a tacoma, and personally i liked mine better. but that might be because i'll never like anything better than a ford as far as a truck goes. as for the colorado... they look pretty sharp, only one problem, its made by GM

There's a guy on YouTube with a couple sweet rigs. One is a 2500 bow tie with a 454, 4x4 with dual flowmasters, single cab long bed. Pretty nice. I have a bow tie in the family (see sig).

classics are a whole nother ball game. i don't really like driving anything i can't work on myself anymore.. after the volkswagon i owned... i'd much rather have something i can fix myself. one water pump on that blasted car cost me close to a grand..thank goodness for that wonderful ford dealer having sympathy on me and taking that junker as a trade towards my ranger.
