My son is looking at at a 97 F250 with 460 motor 4X4. truck is in great shape with a reasonable price. it has sat for 4 months and when we drove it the tranny was shifting into second & 3rd very hard, when we got "on" It it would down shift when it we let off of the accelerator and bang again.

The owner said it has never done this before and thought it was because of sitting...... and should be minor (thought we were talking about going into gear from park.... untill he drove it)I should mention the fluid level was low but no evedence of leaks anywhere on the truck could be seen.

We held off and said we wanted to see if the tranny was a major issue.

Does anyone have an idea that may help??

BTW truck has 150K on it and is in other wise great shape. He goes to college has cows and horses, works full time, as well as a volenter (sp)fireman. last thing he needs is to have someting that may be major. He is with out a truck since he lost control on an icy road coming back from the fire station.

Any thouhts or ideas???
