I have a 62 4x4 w/292 engine I was trying to fix. But I came across another 292 engine that has only has 70,000 original miles on it for $350. It came out of a 62 unibody runs perfect. What is the easiest fastest way to pull my old motor out? I have pulled out and put in quit a few motors but not on one of these trucks. Someone told me that there was a easy way to pull the front dog house off on these trucks? Or should I just pull the hood off And pull it out that way?

It is pretty easy to just pull the hood and pull the engine that way. Leave the bellhousing in the truck attached to the trans. There is not too much to unhook and it isn't really much of a job.
Save yourself the problems of rusted and broken bolts and having to align all the front sheet metal again. You will save both time and work.

A 292 is a piece of cake to pull, weather you pull it from the trans/bell or the bell/block. Its also an easy motor to rebuild, short of the funky timing chain alignment.

If you pull it from the bell/block you don't have to mess with the rear mounts, just make sure you align the clutch straight before you put it back in.
