Factory Sirius Antennae with aftermarket

Has anyone done this?
I have an '06 Lariat with the factory Sirius Antennae on the roof.
I would love to keep that antennae instead of wiring in another one.
I bought a new Double Din receiver and I want to use my Sirius.
Do I have to install those crappy ugly magnets to the outside so that I will then have 2?

Any help is greatly appreciated

I had the 2 antennea on the truck for a while, but when I had some nice weather a couple summers ago I rerouted the factory antennea lead and ran it to the aftermarket xm tuner I have mounted on the dash. Be careful because the lead isn't the longest and you will have to route it to your new radio.
Hope that helps.

It helped tremendously.
Any chance you know what the antennae wire looks like?
There is not a wire that is devoted strictly to Sirius in the back of the factory radio

When I installed my double din stereo with Sirius, pretty sure the Sirius Tuner plugged right into my existing factory ant, I didn't use a adapter or run the ant that came with the Sirius tuner.

While I used a XM SkyFi and docking station on my 2007, the info and pics here might help you? I have life subs on my SkyFi s so no way I wanted to buy a sub for Sirius too, I like my SkyFi s.
But I too wasn't keen on not using the Sirius antenna and adding a second when the factory one was so well placed.

I thought I had posted it all here .... and I did post some, but no pics back then.

Just to be clear, I have a 07 f150 lariat with factory sat, if I want to replace the head unit, I can use my existing antenna on the roof? It is as simple as plug and play on a new Sirius module?

Yes, my '07 F150 FX4 has factory Sirius but I used the antenna for my XM with dock station, frequencies are very near the same between XM and Sirius. I have a pic in that link above showing the one mod I did to antenna lead which involves just removing a clip on yellow shroud.

Remove shroud by removing red clip and cable end is then same as female part of the extension cable beside it which fits either XM or Sirius.
