Almost an engine overhaul needed...
One freeze plug looks bad gunky and starting to leak so I'll need to replace that also...
Im Have a new intake to go on the 460 and gettin a rebuild kit for the carb
also getting a new timing chain for it
and new headers
so gettin a complete gasket kit for it...
How easy is it to replace rear main seal on this 460 in the truck?
My steering gear is now leaking worse than it was...along with the pump....
WHO HAS A REBUILD KIT FOR THE STEERING GEAR?
My mounts need to be replaced also....
I need new hoses for my front fuel tank..there craked and leak when I fill up...
This is going to be a pain in the but to do all this crap...
If you don't count your labor your looking at ONE payment on a new one.
Do your seal and mounts at the same time.
Any good auto parts should be able to get you a seal kit for your steering box.
You should be able to accomplish all of this in one weekend.
PS I dont remember what year timing set we used to use but the 79 460 benifitted from it some of the gearheads on here will know.
Im not going to sell a 79 F250 supercab....these are better than new ones to me...
The truck had been doing alot of sittin in past years and Ive been slowly driving it more so alot of gasket prob got dry and now wetter so they started leaking....
I need to work on rear brakes also but it stops great and this is not a daily driver...maybe 3-4 times a month...
