what is the IDM mod and what does it do

It tricks the computer into running 140V to the injector instead of 110 by switchin out a resistor. The stronger pulse opens the injectors faster, letting them stay open longer. Instead of takin 560 milliseconds to open, they open in 440 milliseconds, so they stay open an extra 120 milliseconds. It's good for about 20hp/60ft/lbs or so, depending on who you talk to. Not a major increase but should give a little better throttle response and a small amount of power.

They upped the voltage to 120V on the super dutys, and i think on 6.0's they might be 140V? At the time they just didn't know better or wanted to be safe i guess. Its not any harder on parts. The guy who first came up with the idea tested it thoroughly and made sure it wasnt harmful to any electronics or engine parts. So far I've never heard of anyone having troubles with the higher voltage. The only downside is actually doing it. It involves removing a resistor and soldering in a new one on a very expensive circuit board. If you aren't a pro at soldering its recommended to have a professional do it, since a replace IDM can be upwards of a couple hundred bucks, and the resistor that your putting it only costs a few cents.

Go to IDM Mod and they'll have a writeup and tell you what resistors you need. Digi-Key Corporation - USA Home Page has the resistors you need, or ask fordman837000 or cookie88 nicely lol check out https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...-resistor.html and they both have extra resistors
