2004 F150 xlt trailer brake wiring

Just purchase a used 04xlt with only 25,000 miles. Has the tow package, has both the 4 way flat and round 7 plug on the back of the truck. Need to know were I can locate the wiring to hook up my brake controller. Does it already have a wire already ran to the back of the truck to the plug that is already under the dash for the controller. Can I hook to the wires coming off of the brake switch or is there somewhere else I should be hooking to. There was know wiring or harness that came with the truck.

Thanks

It is already run to under the dash. Look up under the dash on the drivers side and there will be an empty plug. I believe it was a 5 wire plug.

I see an empty gray plug.I think that is it? Can I just buy the plug in for it that fits my controller and plug it in and be ready to go? What is this relay that comes with the wiring harness from Ford that I see people talking about? Do I need that?
Thanks

I needed the relay. You can buy the plug for the truck but it has to be wired to the controller. I just cut the plug off under the dash and wired my controller direct.

You can buy the pigtail from Ford, if it did not come with the truck... If you purchases a prodigy, you can get it with the pigtail all ready on the controller. But wiring the factory pigtail is no problem. All the wires are marked...

Ford makes it easy to wire in a controller... Why would you cut the plug off? That makes it kinda hard to replace the controller....

That and if I was looking to purchase a used truck from someone, cutting off the factory plug would be a deal breaker for me. I would be wondering what other "non standard" wiring was done.
