Ran code check on my truck after problems and recieved code P0320 "Ignition/dist engine speed input circuit malfunction". Hoping someone out there can help with what that means and what repairs need to be made. Would greatly appreciate any help, THANKS
My truck is an 1999 F-250 V10. It started on night sputtering and bucking and then died. It would start and idle ok but as soon as gas was applied it would sputter and either catch itself or die. Replaced the fuel filter and pump but it kept doing it. Connected ODBII and received a couple codes that led me to replace two bad coil packs and all the spark plugs while i was there. That still didn't solve the problem and now the only code is The above code i mentioned. Thanks
I have a diesel, so my service manual doesn't even show that code. But, just guessing from the description, I would say there is a cam or crankshaft position sensor that is malfunctioning.
The ignition engine speed sensor input signal to PCM is continuously monitored. The test fails when the signal indicates that two successive erratic profile ignition pickup (PIP) pulses have occurred.
