holley 2 bbl hesitation
i have a '79 supercab 4x4 with a stock 400, performer intake and i just put a rebuilt holley 4412 2 bbl 500cfm carb on it. it runs and idles flawlessly but upon ecceleration it hesitates, almost dieing. cant figure it out, any ideas???

Sounds like an accelerator pump issue. With the engine off, pull the air cleaner off and look down the throat of the carb. See if you can see any fuel shooting across the venturis when you pull the throttle black.

Next check your timing, and that your vacuum advance is functioning properly. Pull the distributor cap off and apply vacuum to the advance and make sure the breaker plate moves back and forth. How'd it run before the reman carb?

To tell you the truth, you'll probably get better mileage just leaving the 4 barrel on there. The Edelbrock will have smaller primaries which is what you'll be driving on most of the time. Only when you punch the gas does the rest of the 4 barrel open up.
