Truck at the track

Please excuse my camera man. he sucks.

Instead of taping my awesome burnout, he decided to record my window and lock switches.

lol.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yw3KTqMd-24

I put her up on the smoke tune for the burnout... and forgot to set it back to 120 race for the run. Realized it after I launched, got out of it, but wasn't going to change the tune mid run, so I got back into it. Being on my smoke tune the EGTs shot up to 1300 in a hurry so I had to take it easy for the rest of the run.

Oh well. Truck sounds great though. Burnout and race were on vegetable oil.
I would totally take that car if I was running the right tune...

Sounded good but you need a new camera man lol.

Also I have heard from a few people, unless you have slicks there is no point in doing a burn out, instead of helping like it would with slicks, it makes street tires slip more.

I would take that camera man and do a burnout on his face. j/k. I guess he tried, hell, you didn't have the right tune in. Lets call this a draw.

You will get him next time.

Pretty awesome. Someday when I have tunes I would like to try that. Thanks for sharing.

You're right. Doing a burnout with any radial in the water will just get the track wet. I was on very very bald 40" IROKS... that and the smoke tune... just put on a show for the crowd. It was just a cruise night, so there was no serious racing going on.

Everyone got really hungry after my pass though... it smelled so good.

Any run at the track is fun. Agreed, camera work was shoddy.

I have to disagree on the street tires burn out, if you heat em up they definitely soften up, get sticky and give you more grip... if you don't have enough power to spin the tires off the line there is no need to heat em up.... I've been bracket racing on street tires for over ten years.. believe me it helps...

1300* for a short burst at the track will do no damage at all......leave it cranked up and FLOOR IT next time. With the camera in the bleachers lol

Are you in the water or do you pass through the water and spin them outside the box? At this event people have a habit of just smoking the tires in the water and then dragging it onto the track. If you're just getting them wet to help smoke them good... that is completely different.

I was very generic when I said radial. Smoking a drag radial is necessary, but if your spinning an AT... you shouldn't be at the track. Heating a rubber tire will make it sticky, but dragging water on the track doesn't help anyone.

Thats all I was saying.

I dunno... just wasn't worth it. 9-10 seconds at those temps is asking for trouble.

Put it in 4wd, skip the burnout, and let er rip. Burn out is a waste. If your truck is 2by, I say still a waste as there is no weight back there. This will change if you are running a purpose built truck though, but for most, forget it.

I have run my truck at the track in both 4by and 2by. Burnout and without.

I can't wait for the next time I hit the track again. Since my 4x4 is fixed now I will run her in 4hi next time I run and stomp that little hemi to the ground.

What would be an average time for a truck with a DP tuner (120 race or similar), 6637, exhaust, and some other simple mods (no big oil, injectors)???

Joe, my truck, with similar mods to yours ran an average best of about 9.6 at around 70mph in the 1/8. It dynoed 311/640. Of course the health of the HPOP is a huge factor. New injectors and turbo netted a whopping 1/2 second and about 8mph. As you can see, when you cross 300hp, real performance gets real expensive real fast.

Look around Joe, you can have a fast truck for some small coin. Getting a seriously fast truck is expensive. The Dp tunes can get you playing pretty quick. Injectors will get you playing even quicker. Skip the wicked wheel. Not gonna perform when you need air. You will lose total flow capability with that by design. Depends on your goals.
