I've been lurking lately and looking for a 4x4. Tired of the Crown Vic in the snow and ice! She deserves to be a garage queen.
I found a 2005 FX4, extended cab, lifted 5 inches, on what look like 35's. It has a 5 speed and the 4.0 in it with just a touch over 55,000 miles on it. Test drove it tonight and it felt tight, tracked well and rode as comfy as a lifted Ranger can. No body damage to speak of, just a light scuff or two from use.
After talking, the dealership wants 14,500 for it. Seems like many are going for considerably less in other places. Thoughts?
A lifted 4x4 Ranger & stick in season? In Colorado? What's wrong with it? Well, the lifts make alignments more critical & more frequent, but it'll be worth whatever somebody's willing to pay just like a classic car. Check Craigslist & traderonline just to get a better idea.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the start. It does look a little higher than others. I guess thats just the price you pay for the work already beign done to it...
Around here, the lift kit could sometimes bring the price DOWN due to the issues I mentioned. Anything custom kills resale. But as I said, you're in Colorado according to your profile. So you could have use of it for real. Back to whatever someone is willing to pay and how professionally it's done. We have a couple of good shops near here so we occasionally see some pretty cool lift jobs & then about 3/4 of those trucks have good lifts, but certain other things about the truck would be junk on the owner's part due to abuse, lack of money or something. SO if you want the beast, start looking at it as any other truck, trying to ignore its beastliness...
