Blew my Right front tire out on hwy 99 just north of downtown seattle, made it across 2 lanes of traffic and to a good location to change it with my spare. Old tire completely shredded, didnt damage the alcoa thank goodness. That little ford jack is a pita to use especially in 19 degree weather and wind blowin up your back.
My problem is I cant figure out how the jack goes back in to its holder properly. I wasnt paying attention when I pulled it out, now its in the bed of the truck rattling around. (i know, its a dumb thing, but it just doesnt seem to sit properly in the holder no matter what I tried when I was done changin). I could really use a picture of how its supposed to be installed if you all got one hangin around somewhere.
Thanks in advance.
aint got a pic but with mine the yellow **** goes down into the foam stuff on the fender. the bar goes behind it first. then the bottom should slip in the slot and flip up the bracket and screw it in. o hope this helps. sorry that i aint got a pic to help
by the way your sig asks for suggestions on your next mod. get the tw 6 position chip. you will love it. trust me. after i get guages and a dp im gettin one asap
ah, I didnt try putting the yellow **** down. Ill try that next, it just didnt seem to close the clasp tightly because of the two folds on the jack. Thanks for the tip. Damn thing should be easy.
As to the mods, oh yea, the chip is definately on the list, need the supporting mods first, and I am collecting my bits and pieces. I have the intercooler(7.3) and the y-pipe. I need guages first and tranny VB I think next after that.
What is the oil temp mod you have in your sig?
good plan. and by the way make sure the top of the jack is facing the front of the truck. it should sit in at a little bit of an angle. let us know if you get it in.
you gotta be kiddin me? I gotta go try this now, if thats the case, damn i musta really been frustrated by the blow out to not try that. Ill let you know in a little bit, im freezin my keester off, not used to snow and 16 degree weather out here, yea I know guys, im a seattle pansy but I was rasied in Montana, and I swear the damp cold is worse. thanks again.
ok, top of jack cannot face front of truck, heater blower is in the way, and the pinched seam of jack interferes with the closing of the bracket. it fits better with top of jack facing back of truck, but concerned with it rubbing on wire loom next to it, and not quite the perfect fit either.
just throw that thing out. hahaha.
I'm supprized it works, mine was frozen solid with rust.
Far as i remember, the base of the jack goes to the fender wall, down, and tips slightly towards the front. Top facing 1 oclock.
I could be incorrect, I'm going from memory.
but the tire iron has to be in first. that I do know.
