I went to get in mt 94 ranger and tried to start it but it just clicked. I got out my charger and after it charged it still just clicked. I see no corison on the battery. Could the solinoid be bad?
Thanks for the advice Pablo
I just went out to take a look at the battery again. i remove the + terminal and saw a little oxidation no corision, i clean it up and the truck is now running.
little truck
ps
i would have tried this first but it is cold in the buffalo area today and was looking for any answers before i bundled up to do the repairs.
Yeah, a lot of times when such problems occure, it's a battery or cable related problem. I know what you mean when it's cold, no one feels like massing around with a vehicle.
The clamp could have loosened a bit too from weather & vibration. Sometimes that's all it seems to take if you're in a hurry. Just don't over-tighten it. That could also explain oxidation insulating the post for different circumstances. Always seems to be the negative side. I put a Scosche "platinum" terminal (car audio) on my negative side. Not much good for boosting others though. Stays tight better & then the plastic-handled combo wrench set easier to stash & work with 20 degrees below freezing. Also easier to plug goodies in, change fusible links & such.
O yeah, is the battery hold-down in place & snug?
