Ford Eco Blast truck- would you buy over a V8
chisblassternardone: Ford F-150 Eco Boost V6
Would you go for this or the Ford V8, if you were in the market for a truck, when this becomes available ?

i don't think i'd pay extra for it over buying the 5.4L,,, the mileage isn't that much greater than what some can get with the 5.4, and i'd suspect that a F/A gasoline engine would have a shorter lifespan than a N/A gasoline engine.
that being said, turbo whine is awesome, but so is V8 roar.... if they can find a way to keep the v6 from sounding "rice rockety", it might something to try...

Its gonna be the same story as it always goes, durability issues will arise right away followed by longevity issues. Always happens when more power is forced out of small motors.
Also torque is the main factor in a good motor. Espically in a truck. Even a 4 cyl Honda civic motor can be build to 300 horsepower, donèt think it would last too long in a pickup though.
Also did you look at 15mpg. Thats still not to impressive thats about the same of a finely tuned 390.

honestly, some fine tuning of the current 5.4 and 4.6's would reveal a lot more MPG's than they get currently.
fuel economy vs emissions is a crock of bullspit. on a modern engine, if you chuck the emissions garbage and tune it to run accordingly, the mpg WILL increase. i've proven it on almost every vehicle i've owned.
so, since when has it become less harmful to the environment to use up more resources in hopes of saving the planet??? we burn more fuel because of more restrictive exhausts and such, and supposedly its cleaner emissions... well, quite frankly, the smell comming from my truck's exhaust resembles rotten eggs and smells anything but clean to me. my theory??? forget emissions. take the current engines and let them breath and use less fuel. Less fuel=less emissions...
