Milage-BFG Mud,Wrangler MTR

I have a 79 150 and plan on running 33/1250 or 35/1250. This will be my daily driver. My question is how many miles can i expect to get out of these tires? And some tires are said to be self cleaning. Is this true of these tires. thanks in advance.

I can tell you that the old bfg mudders cleaned out well (that means that the lugs spit out the mud/snow/whatever with a little help from your right foot), and that my buddy got a solid 50,000 out of his set. I can only assume the new model will perform as good as the old. If I needed new tires these would be the ones I'd buy.

If your knuckles ain't bleeding you did something wrong.

LAST EDITED ON 25-Oct-01 AT 02:45 PM (EST)[p]I really don't have any experiance w/ either of these tires but I can tell you what I've heard.
I've heard alot of people claim anywhere from 35-50,000mi out of the BFG's so I would have to say they are a good wearing tire.
I really haven't heard too many people claim such milage out of a set of MTR's.
Both will clean out pretty well in mud and snow so that isn't too much of a problem. If you decide on the MTR's shop around. I've seen prices on these vary by almost $50 a tire for 35's! The cheapest place I've found to order them is www.tirerack.com 35's run $156 a pop plus shipping. NTW sells the same tire for almost $200! yikes!

"like a rock" on the sides of roads everywhere.

Have no knowledge of the BFG's except what I have read here, but the MTR's...a buddy of mine has a set on his 4x4 '79 150...they are the real deal in the mud to be sure but he almost never gets the truck on the road so I don't know about mileage.

His set is a few years old....they make a different tread style now that looks even meaner....
