No problem.... sounds like a plug in the hard line somewhere, Maybe disconect all the lines and use compressed air to blow them out. Commom problem with trucks that sit. GUNK!
Sweet! Thanks, noboby has mentioned that yet. Ill give it a try. Whats the best way of going at it? Bleed the lines from the rear passenger first and then take all the lines apart?
Disconnect the rubber lines at each wheel and remove the hard line from the master, then use the air to blow through the line. the way to not make a mess in your garage is to connect enough clear hose ( buy it at Ace in bulk, by the foot) to the ends of the hard lines to hang in a 5 gallon bucket, Trick is to cover the end of the hose thats in the bucket with a rag so the fluid will not spit out all over! You could even do them 1 at a time. Hope that gives you some ideas,
Welcome, cgfirefighter thanks for doin what you do and WELCOME to our chapter. Good luck on those brakes it sounds like the master cylinder is froze up probly from moister and corrosion. You can disconnect the lines at the master cylender and see if you can pump them. Get some bench bleed fittings from the auto parts place and run some tubing back in to the master cly. and pump away to see if you have flow then work your way down the system from there. good luck.
Thanks guys, I give those ideas a try, I don't get off work till 8 tomorrow morning though. You guys are actually more help than the ones in the 73-79 forum! I would like to do a complete brake job once I figure out the main problem with the brakes. But like I said, once I get home I will try the plastic hose with the bucket idea and see where I get. Thanks again for the great advice.....
Well, I started working on the truck today....... My neighbor came by when I was cleaning my garage and said I should try and at least try to bleed the brakes. Long story short, only the driver front bleeder screw had fluid in it. I completely removed the other three and they were bone dry. Guy at car quest recommended getting new calipers and wheel cylinders. So they are on order and maybe I am one step closer to fixing my truck!
Welcome to the club! and a warning!!! watch out for the Snowbunny, she likes firefighters!
