I have 1/2 of a Merc. Bought the bed from an f350, or would it have been an 'M' designation? Now I don't know whether to do a Merc clone with the front half, or sell the tailgate and get a good ford one. It's a 9' flareside. Of course it raises a lot of conversation from the general public.....

Just gave them the title at the dot office in Anacortes. It was originally a State of Washington flatbed truck, and I have it insured with my business. I am a Washington native and never knew or considered that there were 'truck' plates and 'car' plates here. I have owned over 40 trucks here over the years, we just did the count on a long drive.

Oh, so now I just looked at the plate, and it was a tester from my junk plate bucket. I had to saw the top off to mount it in my 6" 'H' beam bumper. I later replaced it with whatever the state gave me. This photo was taken while building the rear bumper, and I drilled and tapped it for a plate. Of course it has the correct 'truck?' plate on it now, and I sawed the top off that one too. I'm sure that's a federal offense to deface or alter a license plate. I'll be the guy holding his jacket acrossed his face on the evening news tomorrow, right after the guy who ripped the tag off his pillow!

meteor was a trim level of Canadian cars (Ford), except for 1962-63, which was their own style of fairlane ( I have a 4 door). Maybe it was a truck too, but I find very little info on that. AFAIK, the Rancheros were only Ford as well. Someone could've very well just added the letters from 1962. 1963 they changed to the smaller cursive writing emblem.
