Okay heres my problem, I just put a 4 inch lift on my 95 f-150. Currently it has 235/75/15 winter tires on 3.55 gears. When the snow isnt around, i wanna run either 32 or now i'm thinking 33 inch tires. I dont really want to change out the rear end gear because its expensive and it is my only driver so i want to keep it resonable so i decided 32 or 33s. I have had 32s on there before because i borrowed my buddies to see how mcuh it made my engine go down. Anyone have experience with the 33s on 3.55s with a 5 speed mazda tranny? Either one i'm gonna get 11.5 wide cuz i still have the stock rims. Thanks.
I would say 33's would work fine. I had them on my bronco, with 3.55s, but I have the e4od. They worked fine on mine, and would look better than 32's with the lift. also, you can run 33x12.5x15 on the stock rims, I had mine on there.
you put 12.5s on a 7.5 rim eh? no problem? on the 11.5s the recommended minumium width is 8 and i know people who have 11.5s on it fine...i figured 12.5 would be pushing it to much. but you say no eh?
I don't know of any tire maker that has a 11.5" 33 tire. They are either 33/12.5 or ive seen the BFG has 33/10.5 and 33/9.5
IM also putting on a 4" in a few weeks and i am planing on 33/12.5. As is now I think I have just a little to much rev on the highway so it should be better with the new tires. Im am at 2500 @ 65mph in OD. No doubt I will loose power but thats just something you have to live with. How was your power with the 32" on?
the 32s ran decent not to much power loss...you could only feel it on the highway at like 70-75...and yeah i've seen BFG 33 by 11.5s...really rare..havnt seen any other tire with it..but they do sell it.
I'm running 35's on my truck with the stock 3.31 running gears. The only time i could use more power is at about 75-80 on the highway,,,but i can't afford to be going that fast anyway. So its probably a good thing. I also ran the 35's on the stock rims for 10,000 miles without any problems before i bought rims. Good luck.
I had 32x11.50 BFG AT's with 3.55 gears and had almost no loss of power. I put 35x12.50 MT's on my truck and it was a real dog. I had to get my power back so I just installed 4.10 gears it helped alot but I can still feel those tires.
Time for a Supercharger
BFG doesn't list a 33x11.5 in their brochures, maybe it's an old tire? I used to have some BFG AT's sized at 10-15, which was weird cuz they were radials, just didn't say so in the size. So I'm thinking they were real old, probably about 20 years or so. Worked out to a little bigger than a 31x10.5.
285/75R16's are 33x11.5, but you would need to buy some new rims of course. But since you have the stock rims, some wider ones (8-10") would be advisable if you don't want to wear out the center of your tread faster than the outside if you went with the 32x11.5R15 or 33x12.5R15. The price of the tire will jump up noticably when going to a 16, but so will the load capacity. And it will be the size you are looking for.
I could have sworn that i saw a 33 by 11.5 inch BFG all terrain in an ad in four wheeler but i guess i am mistaken. I see 33 by 10.5s but no damn 11.5s and i dont see why. Now i still can't decide if i want 32s or 33s. Now by looking at the mag i cant decide if i want mud terrains or all terrains. I would rarely go off road but those muds look really good. I looked it up and the approved width for a 12.5 inch BFG all terrain is a rim width of 8.5 inches, yet i only have a 7.5 inch rim. I have never seen it done, but the guy from a few posts says he did it without a problem. Has anyone else had any experience with this? I want 33s but if i can't get them in 11.5s then 10.5s seems to be to skinny and 12.5s too skinny. WHAT A DILEMMA!!!
I was thinking the same thing. I have decided to go with 33"X12.5 though because I thought the 10.5 was a little narrow. It would be great for fallowing ruts in trails but if you ever need floatating its gonna hurt you. I also think the wider tire looks better than the narrow. Just whatever you like. I probably will loose just a little bit more power and maybe more noise but im gonna gamble and go with the wider tires. They seem to be very popular.
i just want to know if 12.5s will fit fine on a 7.5 inch rim, i doubt it but i am trying to see if anyone has done it with any luck...more then 1 person on here atleast. If not i'm going to have to go with the 32 by 11.5s because 10.5s are to small
i had a 93 f-150 4x4...stock with 33x12.50's, the narrow 7,5 wheels are about the limit, and due to the lack of backspacing, they rubbed the radius arm at full lock, nothing big
Alright i narrowed my decision, i'm going with 32 by 11.5s by 15 cuz i saw a set of 33 by 12.5s and they just look really fat, like they are to wide for the height, and i dont like the idea of having a 12.5 inch tire on a 7.5 inch rim. Now i need to decide if i want BFG all terrains....or mud terrains. The truck will be on the street 99.9% of the time, i might do some light off roading like once a year, i like the look of the muds better then the all terrains but does anyone have any experience with the muds on the street, are they decent? or should i just stick with the all terrains?
Go with the mud terrains. I have the new mud terrain KM's and they rock. I do mostly street driving as well but when i want to use them off road they are way better than the all terrains i used to have. The new mud terrains are just as quiet as my all terrains were. Not to mention they look way cooler.
