I have owned many ford trucks and mustangs all which were manuals, this is my first project with an automatic. I want to build up my C-6 trans for my 77 f-150 with a 408w and would like to use parts from TCI. I was wanting to know what modifications i could do to beef up my transmission and make it strong and reliable
TCI and others go through the list of parts they put in their transmissions or provide for you. If you have not been to their site, check this page. Scroll down for parts:
I am in the same boat..looking to upgrade also...I have been reading..but am a bit unclear of what I need as far as all the options...there are some recurring themes
Agreed its a strong transmission, but im going through all the trouble of tearing my truck down to the frame and doing a complete overhaul for when i do my 408w/C-6 swap that i want a transmission thats going to be solid and reliable, i dont mind putting money into the trans. i just want to do it before i put everything back togeather
same deal, truck is done.. just put a front dana 60 to match the rear...now just the motor/tranny...was a driver till she started slippin...will do the tranny next and then the 545!
I just went to your site and gotta say nice truck, but that boat in the background caught my eye. I got a twin vee 17' catamaran center console for my toy, its on the small side and i have had to white knuckle it through the pass many times but it does the job. I like the idea of a 545 i wish i never sold my 460, gas here in pensacola just hit $1.50 a gallon and for your wallets sake i hope its as cheap where you are, anyways keep me posted on the build up of your transmission
no payments, and 500 bucks for insurance...just spend the money on gas. the boat is a midland, very sturdy. could use a coat of paint/update the gelcoat, but i dont feel bad if i dont wash her off...19.5ft or so with an 88 hp motor...was used as a one man lobster operation so was a worker. let me know what you do with your tranny
