towing a gooseneck with shortbed?

I would like to get a 4 door for the next truck and a 4 door long bed is too long for us (difficult to turn around behind the barn). I will only be towing the horse trailer which it tappered in the front.

Anyone tow a gooseneck with a short bed? Would I still be able to turn full lock and great then 90*'s with the short bed and not hit the cab? It looks like it will be close when I measure it but it is a little hard to test out before I buy a new truck.

So, any of you guys towing a horse trailer with a short bed offer advise?

Thanks,
Matt

I pull a 20' Blair cattle trailer with my short bed and I have not had any problems.

I have an 8' wide Sundowner LQ. I pulled it without any issues with my 2005 PSD with short bed. I did add an extended coupler from popuphitch.com I believe. This extension set the trailer back about 9" further. I have to crank the trailer around very tightly to get turned around in my driveway/parking area. I would have been fine even without the extension, but I like having the extension.

Now that I don't have the 2005 and my new truck is a long bed, I will probably put the regular coupler back on the trailer.

I tow a 20' ponderosa stock trailer with my shortbed without any problems. It looks like the nose on the trailer (if its the one in your sig) is pretty square, so it would be closer to hitting than mine. If you have a B&W hitch, they make an extender that moves the ball back 6" which would really help a lot, if you are worried about it.

the nose of the trailer is narrower than the rest of the trailer.

No, you will not be able to make 90+ degree turns. But, you can easily make due with a short bed. Both of our trucks are short beds, with a Featherlite and a Exiss trailer. Short beds get along with nice goosenecks easily. They aren't as bad as campers.

x2. Parents have a 97 crew sb B&W, never had any issues making 90+ turns with either my Moritz 25' flat bed or the Sundowner w/LQ
