4X4 switch
I would like some advice to trouble shoot my 4x4. My 97 expy with 5.4 is the vehicle in question. My problem is the 4 wheel drive does not engage. when turnning the selection switch nothing happens. When I originally got the vehicle I was told by my friend who I bought the vehicle from that the 4 wheel drive wasnt engaging but as soon as I tried it I had no issues and that was a couple years ago so here I am now having a problem. Thanks for any advice.

Some thing to try, it may work and then again it may not. Disconnect the negative from the battery let it sit for a few min then hook it back up. If it works most likely the shift motor. Another thing to try is taping the shift motor, like on starters it may be enough to get it to move. Here again if it works the shift motor is gone.
