The weight itself wasn't a factor, the bulk was the factor.

Compare the two, the Mercury looks much more massive.

2 door coupes weights: Ford 3231 / Merc 3350.

I personally love the way they look massive, but I see what ya mean!

To me they looked like a big ol car, but not really in the "ol boat" kinda way!

When I was a little kid, I recall being driven to PLAP (Portage La Prairie) from the Peg in our neighbour's car. It was a Merc from those years. I don't remember much, except that it seemed like a big car with big wide seats, but then I think I was about 4 or 5.
