Hey guys, I've got a question for anyone with any input. I recentley bought a 2008 Ford F-250 FX4 with the 5.4. It has the automatic torque shift transmission and the 4.10 rear end. I'am thinking of putting some performance upgrades on it and would like some input. I am looking at doing a Flowmaster (supper 44) cat back exhaust, K&N Gen. II cold air intake, and a hypertech computer programer with the hypertech (cold) thermostat. My questions are 1) Would these upgrades be worth it? 2) Any ideas what I could expect for horsepower/torque gains? 3) Will these mods void any of my factory warranty? 4) Do the flowmasters sound good on the 5.4's? Any help would be great...thanks guys!
I have a 2005 F350 5.4L so I'm in the same process as you in searching for effective performance upgrades. I highly recommend the SCT Livewire from 5 Star Tuning. I just completed (30 minutes ago) the purchase of a Livewire "Package" and Mike Butler at 5 Star Tuning was awesome! Here is Mike's contact information:
I would skip the hypertech. I am just not a big fan of them on Fords. Super chips, SCT or Sniper rank higher with me, and my preference is sniper.
You are mostly doing supportive mods. The intake and exhaust help move air, but it's the tune that will make the most of it. None of this should void your warranty but a dealer can fight it over anything you do, if they choose too.
