New mod ! mounted trash bag for a crew cab (pics)
Since I put the new console in (it has rear seat cupholders) I no longer needed the cupholders mounted on the rear seat. I really wanted a trash bag so the wheels started turnin' !!
first get a cupholder like this one - in case it didn't work I didn't want mine choppped up so I got a cheapie.
First - notice how the plastic is mounted to the metal - the plastic has "studs" mounted through 3 metal holes - you want to remove the bottom two - just heat them up and scrape the metal off :
Next, I wanted to connect the back plastic plate to the metal so that it wouldn't turn (you'll only have one OEM stud mounted) so I drilled 2 holes and riveted it into place :
Then you need to cut the plastic out to use the flat back piece to mount to the seat, then cut the metal so that you only have a flat back plate :
Get yourself a trash bag that you like - there are a couple types out there, I wanted the one that has a flap over to cover it. Cut off the back straps used to secure it to a headrest.
Connect the trash bag to the plastic/metal plate that will mount to the rear seat studs. I used 1/8" X 1/4" pop rivets - I also used washers on the inside so the rivets wouldn't pull through the fabric
There you go !! .. complete and ready to use !
