I like Morongo Valley a lot - it's grown so much in the last 10 years that it's not quite the sleepy little desert town it used to be, but still a lot quieter than the city.
I was there 17 or 18 years ago.... there was nothing there when I was there.... no police... volunteer fire.... basically only a couple of paved roads... no grocery store, we would go to yucca to shop.... no hard liquor... only beer and wine. it was the gateway to the "river"... every weekend there would be an armada of vehicles with power boats headed to lake havasu

The gateway to the river part is still the same - Highway 62.
18 years ago there wasn't much of anything there at all - a Circle K convenience store was about it.
Now there are a few businesses - gas stations, a car wash, a little market, a liquor store. You probably wouldn't recognize the place but for it's location.

you're right... the circle k and market were there along with a small place to drink that had a couple of pool tables... there was a pizza place... steve's new york pizza was the name, I think... but they had moved to 29 palms before I left....it was a funky place to spend some time.... worked painting and doing some demolition work in palm springs and the surrounding areas... we would drive to the edge of the pass and look down into the lower desert to see what the weather was like ie: wind storms and smog
Your probably one of those guys that eats everything and doesn't gain any weight..
I'll be going to Bill and Chip's for the day...yes, it seems I can eat as much as I want with no weight gain and now this talk reminds me I have to go to the kitchen and prepare a ham and swiss sub and toast it in the oven for lunch and possibly wash it down with a couple of brewskis so I'll say ta-ta for now...might catch you later.
