... speaking of temps

Now that I have my gauges installed and working (boost, and trans, pyro will get hooked up today,) I'm wondering what numbers I should be looking at with my pretty-much-stock truck. Max boost is about 15, and tranny temps maxed out at about 150* after a 15 mile run. Of course, the pyro has green, yellow and red zones to guide me there, but Cody had told me something about letting EGT's fall below a certain level before shutting the engine down and I can't remember what the number was he said.

I ran the line for the boost gauge through the firewall by loosening that diamond shaped cover where the clutch would come through if I had one. I just ran it past the side of this cover and at first and I pinched the line and got no reading at all. I loosened the cover some and it started working but now I'm wondering if there may be a little kink in the line. Today I will drill a hole through the cover, check the line for kinks and reroute it. Seems like I read that stock boost should be like 17-20 lbs.

Your egt's should not be allowed to get above 1200° for any length of time at all. When you shut it off you should let it cool down some if you have ran it hot and hard. Regular around town driving is no problem.

Boost, you may be able to get a bit more but no more than 20 without a chip. I got 25 with a chip and then 34 when I put StageII injectors in. You can tell if there is a kink in the line because it will bounce quite a bit.

Ahh, good, thanks. No bouncing so I guess my 15 max is accurate.

Chipped I see a max of 20.....stock I was seeing around 15 like you are so you should be fine.

For shut down I let the motor run(cool down).... only after hard pulls(towing)......normal driving I do not worry about it......If I stop anywhere for a short time I leave it running(fueling, take out joint ect.)...I just carry a spare key in my pocket to get back in(sometimes unlock the vent window too)

I installed a cool down timer and set it at 300*. I have a new .10 turbo and I never shut it down over 300*. I manually lock the doors and make sure I don't touch the brake when I exit the truck or else it shuts off the engine. (anti-theft) Works like a dream.

If you are using Synthetic Oil I under stand that it will not "Coke" and there is no need for the cool down.

Ya, i saw 14ish stock, and egt's as high as 1150.
My air filter must have been very clogged, because i installed a 6637 and could hit 18. at that point, my egt's would not hit 1100.
after a 10k mod and a 140V IDM, i can hit 20 psi in every gear, and if i run the engine out in third to redline i see 23lbs of boost and 1350F on the egt gauge.
my tranny has never gone above 170 ish...
