late... but had your buddy had the push pull shifter ? my truck was set up by a friend who sold to take care of his new family, this has driven well over 86,000. i believe the selector arm needs to be completely disconnected from column or deleting the tv cable. hope you havent lost too much money but with all that being done its gotta be a flareside

I can't believe you sold it, you put sooo much work into it.

What do you plan on getting next?

JDK, sorry to hear that you had to sell it! I just read this entire thing and you are truly an inspiration! I had to sell my dream truck a while back that I put a lot of time and money into (not quite as much time as you though) so I know how hard it can be to let them go! You find any good trucks yet to start a new thread for?

I know all too well about the emission dicks, lost an 85 blazer (swapped engine no smog equipment) the same for my 76 f250 right when they changed the law from 25 years to 75 and older. Hope you can find something suitable that can fill the void of your flareside. Good luck will keep my fingers crossed you find something that ain't all rusted through.

That's why I'm glad I have a diesel! No smog! Granted here in Commifornia they changed the laws so that '98 and newer diesels still get visual inspections.

Same reason I bought my 95. It might be slow now but work in progress.

I hate to say it but I bought a 98 dodge ram and have been building it. I had a crown vic in college and when i got outta college and started working in the oil fields in the middle of winter I needed a truck. All the fords in the 90's generation were to rusty for the high amount of money everyone wanted for them. This dodge came along and was equally rusty body wise but the frame was immaculant I hate to say it but I really do like that body style. As for my next prject, Im trying to save up some money so I can buy some property to build my own garage on. Then it'll be time for another project. This is a picture of the truck after we got back from a house fire yesterday. I had to use it to tow the trailer pump back into the water supply. The reason it is sagging in the rear is because of the trailer and the over 500 ft of soaking wet mud packed 3" fire hose in the bed. I did paint it a Ford color. 99 superduty Woodland Green with a tough more black added to it. Its the color I wanted to paint the flareside.

But Im not totally Fordless, I do drive a 2008 F350 every day for work.

I always told myself if Ford didn't exist I'd buy a Dodge. That is a sweet looking rig though. And if I remember correctly, those Dodges still had solid front axles on the half tons right? Can't argue with that!

Yes, they do have solid front axles. That truck went from a 318 to a 360, 5 speed. 5 inch lift. 35" kelly safari tsr's. if you go to Dodge Ram Forum - Ram Forums and Owners Club! - Dodge Truck Forum and look up FF54 (thats my name over there) you can find my build thread on it called FF54 Toy Build

Thanks for the compliments by the way. Had I kept and built the ford, alot of things from this project would have been done very similarly on the ford. Except it would have been a built to the hill 393w.

Just out of curiosity, have you put a roll cage in this one? Haha. I remember you saying you were going to install one in the flareside once you rebuilt it.
