Lookin' for a shop near L.A.

This is not for me but one of our fine FTE members. Here is a link:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...gin-boost.html

He is getting royaly scr**ed. You know what I mean. He is looking at $2900 for something that should be less than $1000 by far.

This is a diesel but it is just an exhaust manifold and a simple y-pipe.

Thanx in advance.

You may try PMing Trailer Trash 2, he is the one that needs help.

Wow. Sounds like someone's trying to make a Christmas bonus off of him.

He doesn't have enough posts for the pm function to be enabled, but his email notification is turned on, so he can be contacted that way.

I posted in his 7.3 Forum thread with some Q's.

Hopefully they won't run me out of there on a rail!

Less than $1000 by far? Where did you come up with that figure?

The simple Y Pipe (F4TZ6N646B) has an MSRP of $1162.97.

With an FTE member discount from FTEpartsguy.com, that drops the price to $837.19.

The R/Exhaust Manifold (F4TZ9430B) has an MSRP of $496.73. FTE member discounted price is $357.65.

Someone else in that other thread said the two parts should be less than $900.00.

Uh huh...That's less than the dealer pays for them.

While the parts prices were not mentioned in the other thread, my guess is they're far more than the combined MSRP of $1659.70.

Mebbe the OP will tell us how much more!

While it may be possible to buy the Y pipe locally from a muffler shop, the exhaust manifold is a dealer item only.

Those prices were viable once, but in this case, once was at minimum, 5 years ago.

Here is a NIB passenger manifold for $20!
Here

Also the y-pipe can't be had at a muffler shop. Then again anything can be hand made if you have the time.

There is no way the y-pipe (from turbo to intake plenums) can be that much. Heck the "rare" early '99 y-pipe can be had for around $200 and that is the stealership price! I think you may be looking at the uppipe collector on the exhaust turbo inlet side or something else. I still can't even think that piece would be that much. But you never know.

I want to personally thank you guys for helping a fellow FTE'er out. It looks like he took it to the shop anyways, Oh well!

I was just trying to help the poor fella, guess I was too late. I see you So. Cal guys all the time everywhere and I can definately tell you guys are very active, keep up the spirit.

And No we would never run anybody out of there on a rail, well I guess unless you were drivin' a Chebby and braggin' 'bout Dodges. LOL

Thanx again,

Neal

What's the part number? I already looked, it's F81Z9430AA = MSRP: $208.33.

Fits: 1999/2002, not 1994/1997.

I looked up the only Y pipe that's listed for the application.

Call any Ford dealer in the US, ask them for the part number for that Y pipe.

This is what you'll get. F6TZ6N646B.

Now type that part number into any of FTE's 4 Ford dealer parts dept sponsors websites.

There are two of them right here on this very page-directfordparts or ftepartsguy.

This is what you'll see: MSRP: $1197.66

Now..if the Y pipe isn't actually a Y pipe, or it's not refered to as that...then I looked up the wrong part.

I can only go by what information peeps type. I'm not a mindreader.
