hey, i have a 89 f150 4x4 and saw some air bags that go inside the coils. i think it levels the truck out. the kit was 98 bucks. has anybody tried this or have them on their truck? what are the pros and cons of air bags. thanks
I don't know if they are any good but I doubt it. The problem comes from alignment. If the height of the truck changes at all, the alignment changes and becomes out of wack. Air bags aren't great for the front, work fine for the rear though. You're much better off getting leveling coils for 130-140 bucks from skyjacker or superlift. Doesn't take much to install but a 1 1/8 socket with a long long extension and an impact wrench. Then take it to get aligned and you're all set. Your other option is to get coil spacers, but thats not the best way to do it.

I have used air bags for the front a couple of plow trucks and they work ok to keep the front end up when the plow is on but I'm not sure how they will be for a regular road vehicle, no doubt they will bring her up an inch or two. and yes an alignment would be in order. But if it were me I would spend a couple of extra dollars and install some decent springs. The air bags are a quick way of supporting her and a little easier to install and then you have the problem of keeping the air in them especially in winter.
The alignment would constantly be out of wack. Anytime the height changes from the airbags, the alignment changes.

Actually Mustang, as long as you keep the amount of air in the bags that it was aligned with there is not too much trouble. I had them for 2 years and tires wore a normal pattern. You just have to make sure that the bags have the correct air at least once a month and once a week in winter.
