SAS 1991 F250
Hey there everyone. just joined this site after years of getting a lot of tips from it. Im working on doing the common axle swap on my 1991 f250, its a 7.3 idi if that helps at all... I have a dana 60 out of an 89 1 ton and as we all know it is the kingpin. I have it all rebuilt and all the parts and pieces on standby ready to bolt in. the only thing Im unsure about is the tierods. Am I able to reuse all the tierods/linkage that's already steering my truck (less the pitman arm, I got an F350 one from Skys), the ones that came with the 60 are muntered and its around $500 to replace all of them. The ones on my 250 are pretty much new...
Thanks for any advice

Hey there, thanks for the quick reply. I actually looked at my current steering setup and it’s completely different. Super dinky too! I’m stoked for the upgrade. I still have the old steering arms, so I’m going to just replace the junky tie rods to save $. Do you know how I can tell if the diff I have is the heavy duty axle or light duty? Napa has 2 different lengths of drag links for the 89. 3/4” difference in length…

Are the 3/4 ton ones the ones with more arch? Apparently they are going to be a lot stiffer, bummer cause mine are only about 6 months old. Just replaced them. I’ve been told I’m going to rattle out my fillings. I plan on doing the shackle reversal later on so I’ll need positive arch springs when I do that so I’ll just wear a mouth guard till then😳

Hmm. Seeing as I plan on doing the shackle reversal and also want to do the later model (‘05ish) front leaf setup for the softer ride, would it be accurate to say by leaving my current springs in for now would keep it roughly at the same height? Cause the axle swap itself brings the front up in itself.
Thanks as well, this is such a big help
