I Need Help 6.4 Newbie

Hey guys i just bought a new 08 f250 crew cab fully loaded with the 6.4. I just traded in my 03 6.0 extended cab and i need some help. i had the xcal 3 on my 03 and i couldnt believe how much faster the truck was once i put that tuner on. anyways im trying to find a tuner for the 6.4 and i look at the livewire but i think thats way to much money. If anyone has the predator i was wondering how it is compared to the livewire is it that much different. i plan on doing an intake and dpf delete but im not sure what tuner to go with. any help is appreciated thanks jim

I would say to go with the Spartan tuner. You will not be disappointed. Spartan Diesel Technologies - Technology Beyond Performance!

you get what you pay for. I wouldn't run anything other than spartan or the livewire. everything else is just trash IMO.

No, it isn't cheaper, the livewire you have to call SCT and pay I think $400 so actually your going to be paying a little bit more for a lesser product.

Why make it faster all its gonna do is rob engine life. The method used by the companys selling the programmers is all the same the way they are gaining the power is upping the boost level that your turbo is puttin out which robs engine life.

Why do you need to call SCT and pay $400? I am just asking.

To get the "OFF-Road" Tunes the Livewire is DPF Delete capable just not out of the box. Your tuner S/N has to be unlocked before you can even install the tune revision and it costs extra I know at one time it was $400 may be cheaper now.

Thanks. I am not even going to think about doing that for another 70000 miles.

Your welcome, I love my truck to death now that its been Spartanized! I honestly thought I had screwed up until that happened, and as Pahrump has posted its undetectable! Maybe you should reconsider and jump on the wagon!

I would ump on the bandwagon but I had enough issues with the 6.0 liter, Ford and the dealer that its not worth it to me. I also still have a hard time believing its undetectable. If you take the DPF off and have to put it back on, in the very least they can look at the fresh bolt marks tht you left putting it on and off and question whether your lying or not. If you have a dealer that is alright with the mods but don't travel that would be alright too. i travel too much and the dealers around here are gun shy. I will be at 70,000 miles by this time next year and that will probably be close enough.

It will be interesting to see what the new administration will add to the EPA restrictions once their in. Can you imagine ALL diesel engines or atleast Gvwr under 10000 having to be emission tested. Or worse yet to have to pull in to an inspection station to see who has pulled thier DPFs or not meeting that vehicles year emissions. I could see some serious revenue being generated from the imposed fines. Make them high enough to offset the cost of the progam. What better way of funding hwy programs. Scary.

New Administration will be against the people that work for a living so your exactly right! Still haven't understood the EPA's position on the new emission equipment, you cut tailpipe emissions in half, but in return burn twice the fuel. Sorry but to me the math just doesn't add up on that how were helping anything.

John and Forum,

I sent the EPA an email asking them for help on explaining the reduction of pollution but reducing fuel mileage in half. I honestly asked them to help me understand this so I could be on board with the changes. Of course no one responded.
