This is my first thread. Thanks for the patience. I have a 2002 F250, 7.3. I was told my HP oil pump was leaking. This was a while ago. I was told that the leak was un-repairable and the pump needs replacing. I have had no problems except a very small oil leak. Is this true or is there an o-ring rebuild kit, or other options.
Most leaks on the HPOP can be repaired, including the "non-serviceable plug". Unfortunately many Ford dealerships and local repair shops will tell you the opposite.
But we like to prove dealers and repair shops wrong here.
Followell, It CAN be repaired! I fixed my leaking hpop that Ford says can't be fixed just 2 weeks ago. guzzle92 was kind enough to give me a spare o ring for the non servicable plug he had left over from a kit he said he got from Replacement O-rings for Diesel Engines.
It only takes a couple of hours to remove the hpop, clean averything up, and get it back on. Make sure and get the fuel line sleeves too when you get the o ring kit because if yours is like mine, everyone of them came apart and it leaves you with a massive fuel leak. It is a little but of a messy job(oil and fuel on the floor), but it isn't too bad if you have someone help you by just simply handing you the tools as you need them. You will be spending most of the time with your knees on the radiator support bent over, so just having someone hand you the tools keeps you from having to climb up and down many times. I did mine alone, so I was a little sore afterwards and it certainly took me longer than if I had someone helping. Just make sure you follow the instructions on the links the other guys posted for you to read. Good luck
