I just replaced all of the clutches and steels in my E4OD, The first drive worked great. Drove around town. Got on freeway. Went 30 miles. Parked. Drove one hour later. And now it stays in first gear until I let off the throttle, then it shifts to second, shifts to third and o.d. fine. This is an F250 extra cab 4x4 1990. Does anyone have the zip file on rebuild tips that I read about on an older thread?

 

Sounds like a bad TPS to me. Does it stumble just off of idle?

 

It is a diesel, so I do not know if it has a tps. It does not stumble off the line, it just won't shift to 2nd unless I let off the gas peddle, then it shifts thru the rest of the gears. Thanks.

 

A diesel will still have a TPS.
