99 f350 psd quit

can anyone help i have a 99 f350 6speed diesel i was driving two days ago the service engine light come on and the truck shut off so i towed it home check all the norm like the fuel bowl was full filter was just done and still clean oil is good i can hear the fuel pump running i put a new cps from the ford dealer in it and the truck started up for about 20 sec and shut off if sits for a while it will start the same and shut down again i have another 99 f350 so i swaped the computers and still nothing but the other one runs either way i also checked all fuses and there good so im stuck any help!!!!

sounds like a faulty CSP, do you know what colore the new CSP is?

Just a thought. Try unplugging the ICP sensor. PCM will go into a default setting. See if it will keep running then. You need to read the codes to see if it steers you in the right direction as to what the problem might be. Like Glenn said. New CPS, especially if the gray one, could be defective.

it is the grey one the dealer gave me i was thinking that but didnt no and i was all so thinking of takeing it out of my other truck to see if that worked but didnt no if it would mess anything up i disconnected the batterys to switch computers so there is no codes

yes the one not running is a 99 f350 quad cab 6speed 4x4 and the one thats running is a 99 f350 quad cab dually 6speed 2wheel drive thats how i tested the computer to rule that problem out someone else told me that the idm goes out alot but i dont no

i would try switching out the cps and try what muekster (Roland) stated above about unplugging the ICP sensor.

i tried the icp and it didn't change anything i'll swap the cps on the trucks thanks for help

i just put the cps from the running truck on the not running truck did the same start for about 20sec and shut off so i checked all the cps in the the running truck they all work so thats not it when the non running truck start's for thoes 20sec if you try to hit the gas it don't rev up at all it just idle then shut off and after it's start's it won't start again for a couple of hours and seem's to start if you unhook the battery's anything i'm missing

you got good fuel pressure and oil level is good?

Edit: Just re-read your first post, I'm at a lose here hopefully some vet's will point you in the right direction.

you stated you can hear fuel pump running,is it continuos or just a little when you turn the key on?
how much fuel is in the tank?

it's got between 1/2and3/4 of a tank in it and if i turn the key on and wait the pump runs for about 20sec and shuts off when i try to start it only start's every once in awhile a run 10-20 sec maybe

well i just swaped the idm and still nothing tested in the other truck and worked fine so i'm lost again any thing i'm missing
