Battery light flicker....

A few days ago I was driving and the battery light came on for about 20 seconds then went back off. After staying off for about 10seconds it flickered two or three times. It hasnt come back on or flickered since. When it first came on I turned my head lights on and my radio up just to see if that would cause a problem and it didnt. The whole time the voltage gauge showed great voltage. Ideas?

Your alternator is giving you a warning.

It will probably show back up, then again sooner than before, each time faster than the last, then stay on until you batteries are dead and your lights are out. That is the way most alternators die.

Winmilcook is starting off with a positive reputation.
I'm haveing the same trouble with and early '99. I had the alternator rebuilt by a local shop that has done many jobs for me. The alternator checks out fine with output at factory specs 14.5 v. New motorcraft batteries. I wiggled the 2 wire connector on top of the alternator and the yellow wire will predictably cause the light to come on and off. Replaced the pigtail and sprayed the contacts with cleaner and it seems to have helped some. I still have the light come on but much less. I'm not sure where the wire goes, but I'm going to trace it out and bypass it to see if it fixes it. I'll let you know
