Rollpan or 2008 Rear Bumper?

I have a 2005 super duty harley edition. my rear bumper has been rusted since i bought the truck.

i have thought about paint/line-x on the original, a rollpan, or a 2008 bumper. I do not know if my stock hitch will fit behind the rollpan as i would like to tow still and do not want a new hitch.

the rollpan would probably be a urethane street scene or lund with a drop down hinge for the license plate as i do not think i want to weld a sir michael's one. any experience with these?

marty's truck from truck toyz (lund roll pan)

street scene rollpan

hanneman fiberglass rollpan (could keep reverse lights)

also, i have "stealth reverse lights" thanks to bear hunter's write up. if i got the rollpan, i would have to figure out something else for back up lighting. i think the clearance with these would be fine with the new 2008 style bumper though.

ill get some pictures posted of my truck sometime and sorry this was so long.

I'd go with a 2008 rear bumper or line-x the current one. I'm not really a fan of roll pans as they dont give you any thing to step on plus a rear end collision will do a lot more damage without a bumper

ive thought of this, since a rear end collision would pretty much mean a new tailgate and box with the rollpan instead of just a new bumper in some cases but i still dont know. i have been leaning towards the 2008 style for awhile though until i saw marty's rollpan but his truck is a lot taller than mine.

Here is my vote (see pic).....

I use my truck as a truck and I couldn't deal with not having a real bumper back there. Plus my wife has a tendency to back into trees on occasion (I've done it myself once :-). So far they have just bounced off with no damage to the bumper, but without a bumper I would have visited the body shop for sheetmetal repair and paint many times.

I lucked up and picked up brand new take off Chrome front and rear 08 bumpers for $200 for both. A fire department had just bought a new 2008 for a rescue truck and immediately but big knarly bumpers on it and sold me the new take offs. Of course the front doesn't fit, so I traded it even to a local parts supplier for a brand new Chrome one for my 05 (my original had a dent in it).

This is also an option. If my rear bumper gets bumped too hard, I'll get one of these.
