I don't know what a catalytic converter has to do with a turn signal switch, this,
to me, is kinda like asking how to remove a standard AM radio and replace it with
a modern FM variant with a CD player and also mentioning that the thing came
with bias-ply tires. What's the connection?
Regardless, to change out the turn signal switch, remove the steering wheel and
the plastic shroud surrounding the column from the dash to the steering wheel.
The rest should be pretty obvious - remove the screws holding the thing in
place, remove the wires from the plastic connector, and pull 'em through.
Reverse the process to install.
To remove the wires from the plastic connector, the red strip of plastic can be
pried off; you then might need a small screwdriver or some such device to be
inserted down into each hole and press on the little tabs to unlock 'em from the
plastic.
Obviously, you should make note of which colored wire goes into which hole in
the connector before removing 'em.
EDIT: OK, I reread your Q, it seems you're asking if your vehicle came with a
catalytic converter. My answer: Probably, unless the vehicle exceeds a
certain weight. Best way I know to find out about your specific vehicle is to
look at the label pasted onto the top of the radiator support under the hood,
it'll say either CATALYST or NON-CATALYST.
