I have this lazy cousin. I mean bad. Their house looks like a dump. Trash piled high. Dog poop, cat poop, and matted hair everywhere. They never pay thier bills. Serious smokers - indoors... Stuff spills in the kitchen and it sits there for years... They had an aqarium that was green.. the fish died months ago, and it had a crack, the water leaked out to the level of the crack and they just let it sit... I helped them move a couple years ago, It was pure nastyness. They had to move, the bathroom sink had been plugged for a year, but they couldn't let the landlord in to fix it because he would have evicted them on the spot. No place to wash your hands the whole move...... it was gross. They are basically squatters in my aunt's house, and it is the same screwed up mess. He's 37 - shes a little older I think
And now they are going to have a baby.. I'm really really bummed by this. Babies in the family should make me happy... but I feel so sorry for it.
Perhaps SRS could step in and force them to change their ways. Just a suggestion, it can be unanimous. Doesn't mean they have to lose the baby, just means that SRS will investigate and decide the situation needs change, then force them to change, or they will then have to do something different.
You can call SRS after the kid comes and they have a statewide hot line for the report. I can get the number from work and post it. It is an anonymous hotline so the reporter is never revealed the the "perpetrator". Abuse, neglect and exploitation is a serious issue for both children and adults who are vulnerable.
There are also organizations, such as parents as teachers, who can help new parents with parenting skills. They work with all folks, and not just people in need.
