I used stainless steel chain and quick links ran through the seat belt brackets for both of my seats in the rear. I don't like using the seat belt for anything other than a seat belt. Both of mine are forward facing, but the theory is still sound. The breaking strength is excessivly more than any other option also.

Using the seatbelts is not illegal. We just had our first a few months ago and being **** first timers - we went to the cop shop for advise and they said as long as its threaded through the base correctly - it is safe. just trying moving that sucker when its strapped down tight - it wont go anywhere. and make sure the baby is strapped in good and tight - not cut off blood tight but very securely

"Lower anchors" mine has the anchors for the upper part of the child seat, but not the lower anchors for the securing strap provided with any good child seat. Both of my children are using the seats for boosters. By using the anchor and securing strap the seat is secure and the factory seatbelt is availible for the kids. My Recaro seats in my Fusion are strapped to the factory secure points that are clearly marked with little sewn on lables and the upper anchor mount. I achieved this function in my F250 with SS chain and SS quick links attached to the seatbelt brackets to bridge the gap for the securing strap. The links have a working load of 1500lb, that should be good.

Starting in September, 2002, all passenger vehicles and LIGHT trucks are required to have LATCH (Lower Anchor and Tether for CHildren) in them. As we are men of REAL trucks, the law does not apply to F-250's & up. Some do have the Tether portion, but my '08 F-250 does not have the lower portion or the Lower Anchor. Perhaps they will get that done soon as many of us with Crew Cabs have kids we haul around frequently.
I will note that LATCH is very convinient and an easy method to get PROPER car seat installation, but seat belts can also be just as safe and secure, just not as easy or efficient.

I have a 07 F350 cab and chassis and it does not have latch. I used some chain ( 250 lbs breaking strength) down to the seat brackets and brought it up between the seat and seat back to attach the latch clips. I also used the seat belts as a safe guard. I did this with all 3 car seats ( a real PIA ) but you can't be too safe when it comes to the safety or your kids. I also think it is a shame that Ford could not have put the latch in from the factory. My wife had a 2000 Honda Accord that already had latch in before it was mandated because it was the right thing to do as far as Honda was concerned.

2009 F250 Lower Seat Latch for child seats.
I have a 2009 F250 Crew Cab. As you may or may not know F250 and F350 and up are not required to have Child Seat Latch’s or Anchors due to being “work trucks” I have infant twins and would like to take them with me places without having to use the seat belt method. I did research and see that starting in 2017 Ford started putting these anchors in their F250 and F350 trucks. My question is how difficult is it to install a 2017 rear seat and put in a 2009 F250?

Child Restraint Anchor Plate
I know this is an old thread but does anyone know where this is installed on a f250 crew cab of this same vintage in this thread? BC3Z28613D74A
They call it a Child Restraint Anchor Plate but I have no idea where it would be installed even after looking at the diagrams that come with it.
