SCORE!!! picked up an early '99 Y pipe
For 50 bucks!!! got an all aluminum 7.3 cooler with aluminum 6 liter pipes boots and clamps for $80 a couple weeks ago. If I can figure out the pipe mods in aluminum and get my buddy to TIG it together I'll be set!If the aluminum pipes work out I'll take pics and post it up here.

deadsenator- you know that the '03 Y-pipe is not a straight bolt-on for our trucks right? I believe it can be done with a SD turbo, pedestal, intake plenums etc. I just wanted you to be aware. There's a couple major differences but there are a couple other options also without having to go that far

Thanks, Jack. I hope I didn't make a rookie goof, but that's always possible. I thought the 7.3l Y-pipe was the same from 99-03 (except that the early 99's had a slightly smaller pipe opening?). Here's where I read about the OBS I/C mod:
Ford OBS (1994-1997) powerstroke intercooler instal - Great Lakes 4x4. The largest offroad forum in the Midwest
Tim used an early 99 pipe:
Tims I/C Page example
I don't want to mount up an 03 turbo and go that route because I found there's a ton of work in that direction, so if I got the wrong part for the mod I'll cut my losses there and get the right one.

The later y pipe andintake plenums have a much larger openin into the motor. That's a good thing......They just don't line up with our turbo. So IF you're handy with cutting and sanding aluminum, you could make a CFM style cold side. just change out the plenums. accessible used parts, looks easy enough. I was thinking of turning some flanges to match the turbo on the lathe in steel to take care of the hot side and a elbow MIG weldment from there. that way no supply problems in used parts.
