Which brand of transmission filter/gasket to use?
My son has a new to him bronco. He having some issues with it dropping into failsafe/limp mode. Going to start with draining the transmission and torque converter and replace the filter. What brand filters and gaskets is everyone using? It seems some come with cork and some come with rubber gaskets, do they seal up the same? Found sites listing the following.
Fram ft1130a
AC delco tf283 deep pan (how would I know if he had deep or shallow?)
AC delco tf266 shallow pan
off brand or store branded listings
Stock 1994EB Bronco 4x4
302
E40D transmission
FYI-Put in a new veh speed sensor, then moving to the MLPS if the filter/fluid change does not help. No codes are being throw out, goes into limp mode randomly.
Thanks for any help or tips.

Ouch! with the E4OD that's something to keep an eye on. Personal experience of my own that I won't frighten you with right now.
Avoid AC Delco like the plague... those are GM parts that they make to reach a greater customer base (i.e. Ford owners). Motorcraft is what you want to be looking for if you want OEM replacements. Its really a matter of personal preference when it comes to gasket material. Personally, I prefer rubber to cork as cork will vitrify (get hard and brittle) when exposed to oils. Rubber tends to last a bit longer and tends to seal better for longer in my experience. Others will have differing opinions.
