I did it bought a 2004 DIESEL...Diesel question?
I bought a 2004 6.0 Limited Diesel Excursion this past weekend, and I will post some pictures soon.

I have that annoying “cluck/thump” coming form under the front driver’s side. And I know from owning a 1999 F250 that the sway bar bushings need replacing.

My questions are:

Thanks to all

My questions are:

- The diesel comes with 100,000 mile drive train warranty…would the sway bar be covered?
- I know the one on my 1999 was a simple job and I believe it was 4- new bushing, is it the same on a 2004 diesel? And can I just replace the bushings or is it easier to replace the entire sway bar peice
Thanks to all

Take a look at Summitt Racing, as they are a little cheaper and are much better than stock. Here's the front bushings: Energy Suspension 45180G - Energy Suspension Sway Bar Bushings - summitracing.com.
I believe the end links are about $60 a set, so total for the front end would be under $100.

I’m trying to search this site to find instructions on how to install them, but no luck yet. It can’t be that hard of a job though.

That looks like the kit. They are pretty easy to install. The hardest part is "seating" the new bushings in since they will be really stiff. Install is pretty straight forward.

You may also want to do the Front Track Arm bushing set while you're at it.

Good luck!

From what I’ve been reading in the forums it sounds like buying the “entire link” with new bushings is easier than trying to press in just new bushing.

I’ll diffidently do the front track arm bushing set too. I need to get under the truck tonight so I can see what I need. It is different than my 1999 F250 sway bar application was.

Thanks again….

Fixed
Sorry I did not reply to this post sooner, but I was deer hunting in northern Wisconsin, and I did the repair the night before I left. I decided to replace both sway links and sway bar bushing bushings. I got the links at Autozone (Duralast links) part number SL504 and SL505 $84.99 each, and the sway bar bushings at Advanced Auto (MOOG Bushings) Part number K80203 $20.00 for both. I’d of got the bushing at Autozone but they would of had to order them.
The installation was easy and straight forward and I did not have to jack up the truck.
I decided to replace the old ones with new ones and in my spare time rebuild the old ones for future use/fix.
No more clunking on bumps and/or bumpy roads

The sway bar bushings themselves are easy but the stock end links have to be pressed out. I used a 12 ton shop press and when the first one broke free it sounded like a gun shot. The Energy replacements went right into the end links, it's just getting the stock bushings out sucks. They're more like tie-rod ends, the metal seelves seize to the inside of the end links. The old bushings only press out one direction, if you look closely, you'll see what I mean. Here's a pic.
