This is a complete new Active Directory installation on Win 2003, migrating users over from the NT 4.0 domain. I am currently copying files from one old fileserver to the new one - if it's any indication on how SLOW the old machine was, over a 100Mbit connection the new file server is faster than the LOCAL DISK
As for NT 4.0 being old, yeah, well, it's not my network - if it was, it wouldn't have had an NT 4.0 domain in it in the first place
You'd be surprised how many people are still running NT 4.0 domain controllers. Lots of small businesses, and even mid-sized businesses just can't afford to upgrade.

Anyways, I was contacted by Oce to see if we wanted to upgrade/replace the controller to I believe XP Pro. I asked what would be the benefit of upgrading, and the reply was better security from 'outside' threats at a total cost of $4,000. I checked with our IT dept. and they said not to waste the money because of how they had the network/web server set up to stop 'outside' threats.

Goodie wet, soggy morning Carl, Art, NY George, Sean, George, Chris, Ken, Frank, Jonathan, Mike, Melissa and all others that drop by today.
Sounds like our weather will be turning towards what mid November weather should be.... cold and wet. Looks like it will be a day to go to Lowes and get some track lighting for the kitchen and some other odds and ends.
