I will be installing my Pyrometer, turbo boost, and trans temp gauge, and also installing a 6637 filter, and removing the muffler from my 02 7.3 P/stroke. I want to purchase a DP Tuner(It seems it is the favorite on this site) to help with pulling my camper. I am uncertain how many different models is offered and what the differences are. I see on their website an F-5, and also a new F-6, but don't know what the advantages are of each one over the other. I care really about only 2 things ...1) I would like to improve fuel economy under normal driving conditions, and 2) Help with pulling my 9,000 camper when I am needing some help in the hills. Otherwise, I am satisfied with the power in its stock form for normal getting from point A to point B. Which DP tuner would you guys recommend and why for my situation?. Thanks
If you are planning on putting bigger injectors, BTS transmission, big oil or just adding more tunes then the F6 would save you in the long run. If you know what you want and don't plan on many more upgrades get a F5. You might want to think about getting a BTS Valve body along with your F5.
Correct me if im wrong...F5 you have to send back to get reburned if you do any other mods or want more programs....F6 you can buy programs and burn them yourself...

Get you a DP and you wont be satisfied driving stock anymore. The tow tune will give you what you need when pulling the trailer. I use the 40 for towing 12k.

scottm1,
Here on our product comparision page I have broken down the product infomation on all of our products. You will see there is a definate technological advancment to the F6 the F5 will not be capable of. Depending on how far your want to take your truck and you will need to be changing tunes often the F6 will be more benifical to you. If you are a techi and the In-situ chip programming and try before you buy capability appeals to you the F6 will be the only chip to offer this. If you never want to change the tunes you receive, the F5 will suite your needs fine.

Yes he will or wont, how ever you want to look at it
While pulling 12k, I put my DP from 40T back to stock just to remember what stock was like. It was almost painfull to drive in stock.
scottm1;
Unless your going to change tunes often, get the F5. Also plan to get the valve body. I did the JW because DP said there was no need to reprogram the tuner and ITP carries them. Dennis is just down the road from me.
There was mention of a "Freedom Programmer" due out in mid- to late-October that would allow user-updating of the F-5, but I haven't seen anything on the site about this product yet, and I just checked yesterday.
The F-6 is definitely newer and likely a better option, especially with the ease of the built-in ability for the user to update the tunes on it. Beyond that advantage, I'm not sure what else there is, but I'm sure someone will chime in.

Good luck
I couldn't agree more about the first quote, very true. You won't believe the power in the two. VB is on my list next, couldn't wait for the DP but i don't mind sending my chip back if IT needs too. It is best to get the VB in first though if you can. F-5 for me, very, very satisfied.
F5 for me as well. The F6 wasn't out yet when I bought it. I'm totally satisfied with it though. If I want more tunes, I'll wait and see if Jody and Diane make it out to Colorado sometime in the future and I'll sign up for a live tune session.
