Do performance chips void Warranty?
OK I vented.Ther are many dealerships that are fine with mods, and many that won't allow any. It's up to the dealers discretion. So yeah, your best bet, if your really concerned is to ask first.
Many memebers on this site have programmers on their trucks with no ill effects.
Anyone can do anything that they want to their own truck, what warranty applies lies with the dealership. I want to get a programmer simply for the added mpg's, more power would be nice but seriously my truck has over 300 hp and over 500 ft.lbs. of torque
.
My advice was exactly the same as yours; ask the dealer.
I said that anyone who modified their engine in a way that voided the warranty and attempted to hide it was a crook. This is not really a judgement call, it's the truth. If you think that encouraging people to commit fraud has a place on FTE but calling a crook a crook does not, well I suppose we'll have to disagree. I apologize to any dishonest people who may be offended by my moralizing.
I have absolutely no problem with folks modifying their trucks, but if you do it you should man up and accept the consequences.
